A little French treasure for your Mahjong table.

This beautiful vintage French faïence dish has an unusual, elongated form with graceful, upturned handles and a hand-painted folk-inspired floral design in rich blue, red, yellow and green.

I found this piece while antiquing in France and immediately imagined it holding Mahjong dice. It does the job beautifully — with plenty of room for the dice while adding a little collected French charm to the table.

Of course, it can also be used as a traditional vide-poche — a French “empty pocket” dish for jewelry, keys, coins and other small treasures.
